Chief of Army staff of India General Bipin Rawat paid homage to the martyrs of Liberation War placing floral wreaths at Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment on Saturday morning (April 1).

He placed the wreath here around 7:45 am, reports Banglanews correspondent.

Later, a smartly turned out contingent of Bangladesh Army presented guard of honor to General Bipin Rawat, who is currently in Dhaka on a three-day visit.

General Bipin Rawat also paid a courtesy call on his Bangladesh counterpart General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq at army headquarters around 8:10 am.

The Indian army delegation will visit a Liberation period warfield in Gobindaganj and the army cantonment in Bogra.

Indian army chief also will call on President Abdul Hamid at Gana Bhaban around 3 pm.

Earlier, a six-member delegation of Indian Army, led by General Bipin Rawat arrived in Bangladesh on Friday for a three-day visit.

He was received by Logistics Area Commander of Bangladesh Army Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan at Bangabandhu base of Bangladesh Air Force.

This is Bipin Rawat’s first visit to any country after taking charges on January 1, 2017.
