Bakhrabad Gas Field
Bakhrabad gas field in a natural gas field in the country. This is one of the biggest gas field in Bangladesh. In many parts of the country to meet the fuel needs from Bakhrabad Gas field.
Muradnagar upazila Bakhrabad gas field is located in the district of Comilla. From its location, 40 kilometers east of Dhaka. Titas and Habiganj fields such as Shell Oil Company also discovered in 1969, the then Pakistan. Bakhrabad field narrow and long, and about 69 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide. The total amount of 1,049 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves (Tcf). Up to 31st October 2009 the total amount of gas is 696.596 billion cubic feet have been extracted from Bakhrabad Gas field, this amount is 66.406% of total reserved in this field.
Bakhrabad gas in place of a total of 8 wells have been drilled. Only one of the wells dug vertically. The rest length is lame. After activation has the highest gas production wells in 1992, when it was taken daily of 10 million cubic feet of gas. There are currently 5 wells on the 35-36 million cubic feet a day, which is harvested. The remaining 3 wells have been abandoned due to waterlogging. From here, the gas is supplied to the country through Bakhrabad Gas Systems Limited.
Currently, the ratio of the condensate and gas, and water and gas ratio of 0.70, and 13,088 BBL/million cubic feet. The condensate is made in the processing of gasoline and diesel, which is marketing the Meghna Petroleum Limited.
