2 shibir leader killed in Jhenidah ‘gunfight’

 

News Desk: Two Shibir men have been killed in a so called ‘gunfight’ with police in Jhenidah district.

The gunfight took place at around 2.30am on Friday at a field of Tetulbaria village under Naldanga union of Jhenidah sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Shahid Al Mahmud (25), son of Rajab Ali Biswas at Badonpur village under Jhenidah sadar upazila, and Anis who hailed from Kushtia district.

Shahid Al Mahmud secured Fazil degree from Jhenidah Alia Madrasa and Anis secured Diploma Engineering degree from Jhenidah Polytechnic Institute.

Hasan Hafizur Rahman, OC of Jhenidah Sadar Police Station, said: “A gang of criminals opened fire targeting the police when they were patrolling in the area. In retaliation, police fired back that left two of them dead while others managed to flee the scene”.

Meanwhile, three police officials were also injured in the incident.

Police also recovered a shooter gun, two rounds of bullets, five bombs and some local weapons from the spot.
